What is Hypnosis Therapy?

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness characterized by focused attention, reduced peripheral awareness, and enhanced responsiveness to suggestions. During hypnosis, a person enters a trance-like state where they become deeply relaxed and highly concentrated on specific thoughts, images, or sensations while

filtering out distractions from their surroundings.

The hypnotic state occurs naturally in everyday life - think of times when you've been completely absorbed in a book, movie, or daydream and lost track of time. 

Contrary to popular misconceptions, people under hypnosis don't lose control or become unconscious. They remain aware of their surroundings and can reject suggestions that conflict with their values or desires. The hypnotized person is an active participant who chooses to follow the hypnotist's guidance.

Research shows that hypnosis produces measurable changes in brain activity, particularly in areas responsible for attention, self-awareness, and cognitive control. Brain imaging studies reveal altered patterns of connectivity between different brain regions during hypnotic states.

I am a  Wellbeing Coach, Master Hypnotist, Reiki Energy Master & NLP Practitioner. At the core of my practice I focus on energy healing, hypnosis and neuro linguistic programing. What does Reiki feel like? Clients often describe Reiki as a gentle warmth or tingling sensation. Others may simply feel deeply relaxed or emotionally lighter. Each experience is unique, and the effects may be subtle or profound.

Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work? Not at all. Reiki does not require belief to be effective. It works by supporting the body’s natural energy flow, and many clients who were skeptical at first still report feeling more relaxed, clear, and balanced after a session.

What should I wear to a session? Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that you can relax in. You’ll remain fully clothed and lie down on a treatment table throughout the session.

How should I prepare for my session? Come well-hydrated and try to arrive with an open mind. Setting a personal intention for your session can enhance the experience. Avoid heavy meals or caffeine right before, if possible.

Can this be combined with other treatments? Absolutely. Reiki and Hypnosis pairs beautifully red light therapy. When combined, these therapies can deepen relaxation, enhance energetic release, and support emotional or physical healing on a more profound level. Is Reiki a religious practice? No. Reiki is not affiliated with any religion or belief system. It is a spiritual, energy-based healing technique that supports the body’s natural ability to heal, and it works regardless of your personal faith or background.

Is there any physical touch involved? Reiki is typically done with light touch or no touch at all. The practitioner may gently place their hands on or above the body, especially over areas like the chakras. If you prefer a no-touch session, just let us know — Reiki is completely adaptable to your comfort.

How long is a Reiki or Hypnosis session? Sessions are 75 minutes long.

Are there any side effects? Reiki and Hypnosis are gentle and non-invasive therapies. Most clients feel deeply relaxed afterward. Occasionally, people may feel emotional or tired as the body adjusts to energy shifts — this is normal and usually short-lived.

How often should I get Reiki? It depends on your personal goals. Some clients come weekly or bi-weekly for stress relief, while others schedule monthly sessions or come as needed. Your practitioner can help you decide on a frequency that supports your wellness journey.

What will I feel like during hypnosis? Most people feel deeply relaxed, calm, and focused. You may feel light or heavy, and some people experience visual imagery or heightened awareness of their thoughts and body.

What To Expect During Your Session

Before The Session

You’ll have a brief consultation with the practitioner to set an intention for your session. This could be physical healing, emotional clarity, stress relief, or simply the desire to feel more balanced and grounded.

During The Session

Reiki

You’ll lie down fully clothed on a comfortable treatment table. Soft music will play in the background to support deep relaxation. The practitioner will gently hover their hands above your body, or lightly place them on specific energy centers (chakras), depending on your preference. Reiki can also be done without any physical contact.

Clients often report sensations like warmth, tingling, emotional release, or a feeling of floating. Most simply feel deeply relaxed, peaceful, and recharged.

Hypnosis 

Your session will begin with a short conversation to set your intention. Then, you’ll be guided into a deeply relaxed, yet aware state—similar to meditation or daydreaming. While in this hypnotic state, your subconscious mind becomes more open to helpful suggestions and insights. You’ll still be fully in control and can speak or move if needed. The process is gentle, safe, and tailored to your comfort level.

After The Session

Take your time getting up and allow yourself a few moments to ground. It’s normal to feel lighter, more open, or even emotional as energy shifts settle in. We recommend drinking water, resting if possible, and staying mindful of how you feel over the next few days.
